Channel Steel

Channel steel is a long strip of steel with a groove shaped cross-section. Modern steel structures generally use C/Z steel, which serves as the building purlin and has good load-bearing performance
The internal supporting components of the steel structure are high-strength galvanized steel plates that have been precision processed and cold-rolled into C and Z steel.
C-shaped steel is widely used in purlins and wall beams in steel structures, and can also be self assembled into lightweight roof trusses, brackets, and other building components. In addition, it can also be used for the manufacturing of columns, beams, and arms in light machinery.
Cold formed Z-shaped steel has the advantages of adjustable size and high compressive strength. Widely used in automobiles, railway vehicles, building doors and windows, transportation, shelves, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, building steel structures, containers, steel templates and scaffolding, solar brackets, shipbuilding, bridges, transmission towers, steel sheet piles, cable trays, agricultural machinery, furniture, storage, guide rails, keels, vegetable greenhouses, steel pipe brackets, municipal construction and other fields.
Channel steel is divided into ordinary channel steel and light channel steel. The specifications of hot-rolled ordinary channel steel are 5-40 #. The specifications of hot-rolled flexible channel steel supplied through agreement between the supply and demand parties are 6.5-30 #. Channel steel is mainly used in building structures, vehicle manufacturing, other industrial structures, and fixed cabinets, and is often used in conjunction with I-beams.
Channel steel can be divided into four types according to its shape: cold-formed equal edge channel steel, cold-formed unequal edge channel steel, cold-formed inner rolled edge channel steel, and cold-formed outer rolled edge channel steel.
According to the theory of steel structure, it should be the channel steel wing plate that is subjected to force, which means that the channel steel should be standing upright, not lying down.
The specifications of channel steel are mainly represented by dimensions such as height (h), leg width (b), and waist thickness (d). Domestic channel steel specifications range from 5-40, which means the corresponding height is 5-40cm.
At the same height, lightweight channel steel has narrower legs, thinner waist, and lighter weight than regular channel steel. 18-40 are large channel steels, while 5-16 are medium channel steels. Imported channel steel shall be marked with actual specifications, dimensions, and relevant standards. The import and export ordering of channel steel is generally based on the specifications required during use after determining the corresponding carbon bonded steel (or low alloy steel) steel grade. Except for the specification number, channel steel does not have a specific composition or performance series.
The delivery length of channel steel can be divided into two types: fixed length and double length, and the tolerance value shall be specified in the corresponding standards. The length selection range of domestic channel steel is divided into three types based on different specifications: 5-12m, 5-19m, and 6-19m. The length selection range of imported channel steel is generally 6-15m.
The allowable deviation of surface quality and geometric shape of channel steel is specified in the standard. The general requirement is that there should be no harmful defects on the surface, and there should be no significant twisting. The allowable values for wave bending (sickle bending) of channel steel, as well as the values and tolerances of relevant parameters (h, b, d, t, etc.) for the surface shape of various specifications of channel steel, are specified. The main manifestations of incorrect geometric shape of channel steel are angles, leg extensions, and leg combinations.
